Nandigram / Kolkata : Voting began at 7 a.m. Thursday in 30 constituencies, including the Nandigram high office, in the second round of the West Bengal Assembly elections in tight security, officials said.
Voting continues in strict adherence to COVID-19 agreements in nine seats each in the Purba and Paschim Medinipur regions, eight in Bangkura and four in South 24 Parganas.
Long queues are visible outside the polling stations, where voting will continue until 6.30pm.

The Electoral Commission has announced that all 10,620 voting booths as 651 critical and distributed companies, with the exception of state police, will provide security.
A total of 210 armed police companies have been deployed in Paschim Medinipur, 199 in Purba Medinipur, 170 in South 24 in Parganas and 72 in Bangkura, officials said.
The TMC and BJP contested all 30 seats, while the CPI (M) is contested in 15 constituencies and its Congress and ISF allies are vying for 13 and two seats respectively, they said.
Elections for 294 parliamentary seats in West Bengal were held in eight constituencies. Votes will be counted on May 2. PTI
