Ludhiana : The roof of the building collapsed on Baba Mukand Singh Naga on Daba Road here on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and the Commissioner of Police are monitoring the situation after the collapse of an unpaved roof.

According to officials, 36 of the 40 people have been rescued. Four people are said to be trapped inside.

One person has been pronounced dead at the Civil Hospital. Ten people are being treated at Civil and Apollo hospitals. Two critically injured people were being treated at Apollo Hospital.

Construction work was underway without permission.

The owner of the factory allegedly raised the standard without the consent of the Municipal Corporation. Workers at a nearby factory said the queue operation started at 4am and the incident happened at 9.40am.
