London : The UK and the European Union (EU) have issued a consolidation statement, promising to find a "winning" solution in the Covid-19 terms of reference.
The EU has been striving to meet the needs of its member states and has put pressure on the Swedish biopharma giant AstraZeneca to increase Oxford University vaccine supply and has even indicated that there may be export blocks. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been making face-to-face calls with his European counterparts and said co-operation was "very important".
Leaders split the restraining proposals
- EU leaders are divided over proposals for a new export policy on economic activity, which will aim to increase supply within the organization.
- The Belgian region produces Oxford / AstraZeneca vaccine and another in the Netherlands is expected to increase jab supply to the EU.
- Brussels said with more than 40 million doses released to the EU in the past two months, a quarter has been sent to the UK.

The drug is 76% effective, says AstraZeneca
AstraZeneca said its Covid-19 vaccine was 76 percent effective in a new analysis of its US trial - only lower than the rate in an earlier report this week criticized for using outdated data. Temporary data sets the effectiveness of the vaccine at 79 percent. Reuters
