Bryan (Texas) : The gunman opened fire on Thursday at a cabinet building in Texas where he worked, killing one person and injuring six others before he was arrested in a mass shooting in the United States three weeks ago.


Four of those injured in the shooting at Kent Moore Cabinets, a building the size of a warehouse at an industrial park in Bryan, Texas, have been rushed to local hospitals in critical condition, the police department said on Twitter.


The suspect was not immediately identified, although police said he was employed at Kent Moore Cabinets. Investigators said they did not yet know what caused the deadly outbreak of labor violence in southeastern Texas.



One victim was found shot dead at the scene, and four others were seriously injured in the shooting. A sixth person with minor unexplained injuries and a seventh with a critical illness described for the first time as an asthma attack were also rushed to local hospitals, according to the Bryan Police Department.

In addition, the Texas Department of Public Safety said a state soldier was shot and wounded during a search for a suspect entering a neighboring county and hospitalized in a critical but stable condition.


Authorities provided a few details of the actual attack.


The Houston-based television station, KPRC-TV, a NBC-affiliated organization, quoted police chief Eric Buske as saying that the incident took place in the "bay" of the plant and that the gunman had fled when police arrived.



The KPRC, quoting police, also reported that the suspect was believed to have opened fire with a shotgun.


Bryan, a city with an estimated population of 87,000 and the seat of Brazos County, is a short distance from Texas A&M University near College Station about 100 miles northwest of Houston. The Brazos Industrial Park where the incident took place is just southwest of the seemingly orderly city, with the slogan "The Good Life, Texas Style." The rampage is the latest in a series of more than a dozen mass shootings in the United States since mid-March.



Eight people were killed in the suburbs of Atlanta, ten people in a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, and four people, including a 9-year-old boy at a real estate office in Orange, California.


On Wednesday, a former soccer player shot and killed a South Carolina doctor, his wife, two grandchildren and another man before committing suicide.
