Chandigarh : Punjab PM Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday called on PM Narendra Modi to scrap the government's proposal to open various projects worth Rs 937 million, including the construction of the Sri Anandpur Sahib as Smart City, to pay for Gugu Tegh Bahadur, whose name is 400 Pelwa Pashash Purab year.


Participating in a high-level national committee meeting convened by the Prime Minister to conclude the 400th Parkash Purab celebrations, the Prime Minister said, “We are all fortunate to celebrate this great event in our lifetime and I urge Modi ji to ensure that this historic event is remembered not only nationally but internationally. overall. ”


He said Gugu Tegh Bahadur stands as a shining symbol of our country's great culture and religion, and her high self-sacrifice is an integral part of Indian history.

The Prime Minister said he was "blessed" as during his tenure he had the opportunity to be part of the grand celebrations of the 350th birthday of Gugu Gobind Singh and the 550th Parkash Purab of Gugu Nanak. "Even in my last term, I was fortunate to be a part of Gugu Granth Sahib's 400th anniversary celebrations," he said.


Speaking to the Premier on a memorandum sent to the institution in this regard, Amarinder said his government planned to give proper recognition to Gugu Sahib's health-related towns and villages in the province by improving their infrastructure. Outside the city of Amritsar, the city of Sri Anandpur Sahib and Baba Bakala are important in this, he said. He said there were 78 sites in the province that were equipped with Gugu.


Amarinder said the proposal submitted by the country's government includes infrastructure development projects in Sri Anandpur Sahib, Amritsar and Baba Bakala and beyond; the rehabilitation of village ponds and traditional water conservation bodies in the 78 Punjab villages visited by Gugu; and establishing the Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur School of Textile Technology and the Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Handicrafts at Gugu Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and Sathiala, in Baba Bakala, respectively.


The Prime Minister has asked the Premier to issue a special memorial stamp for the event. He suggested that memorial ceremonies be held across the country, as well as for all Indian delegates abroad, in order to convey a powerful message about the life of Gugu Tegh Bahadur.



Amarinder informed the Prime Minister that details of the master plan on May 1 are being finalized, taking into account Covid's status in the country, especially in the Punjab.
