Pawar calls on NCP leaders in Delhi, pressure rises on Deshmukh (Ld) |
New Delhi :The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Supremo Sharad Pawar summoned Deputy Prime Minister Ajit Pawar and party leader Jayant Patil in Delhi on Sunday to discuss the allegations against the party's leader and Maharashtra Home Affairs Minister Anil Deshmukh.
This comes after the build-up of pressure on the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) relationship that Deshmukh should leave after the allegations were leveled against him by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. The BJP has also asked for his removal.
Sources inside the coalition say the allegations are serious and that the only thing that could save his face could be his resignation but the final call on the matter will be taken by Sharad Pawar.

The NCP has called a meeting of its top leaders to take final action on it. So far the NCP has been defending the mode but clarification will only come after the NCP King has made a final decision on it.
Deshmukh denied the allegations and said on Saturday he would sue Singh.
In a letter to Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Param Bir Singh stated that the Minister of Home Affairs had asked several officials, including Sachin Vaze, to use fraudulent funds and they were given a sum of 100 million rupees a month and asked to raise money for restaurants, bars, bars and hookah restaurants
While dismissing Singh's allegations that the state Home Affairs Minister was seeking bribes, Deshmukh said Singh was correcting false allegations against him in order to save himself.
Taking to heart Deshmukh's assertion that Singh's replacement as General Manager of the Maharashtra Home Guards was not for the sake of administration but for "unforgivable expiration" by his team, senior Mumbai police officer shot an eight-page page to Prime Minister Uddhav Thackerz for "cause" ".
