New Delhi : India's COVID-19 figure rose to 1,20,95,855 and an additional 56,211 people tested positive for the virus within 24 hours, according to Union Department of Health data updated on Tuesday.
With 271 deaths, the death toll rose to 1,62,114, with data updated at 8 a.m. on display.
Registered with a steady increase for 20 consecutive days, active cases increased to 5,40,720 comprising 4.47 percent of total infections, and the recovery rate dropped to 94.19 percent.

The number of people recovering from the disease has risen to 1,13,93,021, and the death toll stands at 1.34 percent, according to data.
According to ICMR, 24,26,50,025 samples were tested as of March 29 and 7,85,864 samples were tested on Sunday.
The 271 young people who died include 102 from Maharashtra, 59 from Punjab, 20 from Chhattisgarh, 16 from Karnataka, 14 from Tamil Nadu and 11 from Kerala.
1,62,114 people have been reported so far in the country, including 54,283 from Maharashtra, 12,684 from Tamil Nadu, 12,520 from Karnataka, 11,012 from Delhi, 10 315 from West Bengal, and 8 790 from Uttar Pradesh and 7 210 from Andhra Pradesh and 6 749 from Punjab. PTI
