New Delhi : The Centre on Sunday announced the release of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for resuming shooting of films and TV programmes.


Announcing the decision, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javedkar, in an official video statement, said, the film industry provides employment to several people, and contributes to the country’s economy, and so it is time to allow the industry to work under the set system amid the war against COVID-19 pandemic. 


The SOPs for shooting of films and TV programmes:


  • Minimum cast and crew during shootings.
  • Visitors and audience not allowed on sets.
  • Coordination with local authorities during outdoor shootings.
  • Regular sanitisation of sets, make-up rooms, vanity, and washrooms etc.
  • Adequate provisions of for gloves, boots, masks, PPE etc.
  • Designated entry and exit points for shoot locations.
  • Social distancing norms of six feet in recording studios, editing rooms etc, to be followed.
  • Scenes, sequences, camera locations, crew position, seating, catering to follow social distancing.
  • Only those who are in front of the camera will be allowed without the face mask.
  • Minimum sharing of costumes, wigs, make-up items.
  • Make-up artists, hair stylists to use PPE.

 

“Today, we are laying SOPs as per the international experience with the consultation of the Home Ministry and the Health ministry. This will be welcomed by the film industry because it (the industry) is an important aspect of the economy and it employs millions of people", the Minister said, adding: “We have issued this to facilitate the production activity to resume and in all respects".
