NEW DELHI/MUMBAI: Approximately 30,000 tickets were booked for more than 54,000 passengers within three hours after IRCTC started booking tickets online for a dozen special trains. Within minutes after booking started, all tickets across all three AC classes were sold out for Mumbai Central-New Delhi special train till May 18. Officials said till Monday 9 pm, the overall revenue generated from sale of tickets for these AC trains was around Rs 10 crore.
They said there was brisk booking of tickets on trains coming from Howrah and the ones leaving Delhi. Booking for trains from Chennai started after 9 pm, sources said.hough the railways had announced to start online booking of tickets for the 30 special trains connecting Delhi with 15 major cities from 4pm on Monday, it was delayed by two hours.

Officials said details of trains which depart on Tuesday were fed first in the system and then details of other trains were fed into the system. “Within one and a half hours, more than 18,000 tickets were booked,” said an official. He said once details of all the 30 trains are fed ino the system, the number of booking will increase dramatically.
Till late eveinig,there were complaints of passengers facing difficulty in selecting destinations as the route could not be accessed on the site.Several took to Twiiter to express their anger against IRCTC.One tweeted," Unable to do booking for New Delhio To Ahmedabad. Only booking for some routers are happening not all the 30 special trains @irctc @RailMinLndia".
