“This picture should haunt the conscience of humanity for times to come. An inconsolable daughter of a police officer martyred in 2017 in Kashmir. Any awards for this photograph?” Imtiyaz Hussain tweeted.
The senior cop’s tweet comes after three photojournalists from J-K - Channi Anand, Mukhtar Khan and Dar Yasin of the Associated Press – were awarded the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for their "striking images of life" in Kashmir. The photographs were clicked during the lockdown in the region following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

Reacting to Gandhi’s praise for the photojournalists, BJP leader Sambit Patra said the pictures, due to which the three have been awarded the Pulitzer prize, depict anti-India sentiments. "Dear @RahulGandhi ji. You congratulated Mr Dar who received the Pulitzer award today for photography. One of the photographs is enclosed herewith. The caption mentions "Indian Occupied Kashmir. Mr Rahul, is Kashmir an integral part of India?" Patra asked.
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah and Iltija Mufti, daughter of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti also congratulated the photojournalists.
