Terrorist Killed in Jammu And Kashmir as Encounter Breaks Out in Shopian

Shopian : 1 militant was killed after an encounter ensued between security forces and militants in Dairoo Keegam village of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning.

An official said that on specific inputs about the presence of militants, a cordon and search operation was launched in the area by a joint team of police, the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

As forces zeroed towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired at forces leading to gunfire exchange. This triggered an encounter, the official said.
