Dismissed Punjab Police officer and former Assistant Inspector General Rajjit Singh Hundal has been arrested after remaining away from authorities for several years in cases connected to allegations of a police-drug nexus, extortion and disproportionate assets. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed that Singh surrendered before Patiala Police and was subsequently formally arrested.

Singh’s case has attracted considerable attention in Punjab because of its connection to investigations into alleged links between sections of the police force and illegal drug activity.
