Haryana : A severe heatwave sweeping across Haryana has claimed its first life of the season, raising fresh concerns over the impact of extreme weather conditions on vulnerable communities. A labourer died at a grain market in Nuh after reportedly collapsing due to prolonged exposure to intense heat, officials said.

According to local authorities, the incident took place at a busy mandi where daily wage workers were engaged in loading and unloading activities under the open sky. The temperature in the region has been soaring well above normal levels over the past few days, with little relief even during the evening hours. Witnesses said the labourer suddenly fell unconscious while working and was rushed to a nearby health facility, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Medical experts suspect heatstroke as the likely cause of death, a condition that occurs when the body overheats due to excessive exposure to high temperatures, often combined with dehydration. Although a post-mortem examination may provide further clarity, officials have already issued advisories urging people to take precautions as the heatwave intensifies.
