Mandi/Shimla : A major cloudburst occurred at Choj nullah in Parvati valley of Kullu district on Wednesday morning, which has done considerable damage to the properties near the village.

Kullu SP Gurdev Chand Sharma said: “Four persons are reported missing in the cloudburst incident at Choj village.”



A few camping sites were also washed away with the gush of water in Parvati river, which is in spate. Locals fear that a few tourists have been washed away with the gush of water.

The bridge connecting to the village has been damaged. Around six cafes close to the river bank were washed away in the flood.

He said that the police and rescue teams are on the spot.  

In Shimla, a woman died while two others sustained injuries as stone fell on a car following a landslide triggered by rain near Dhalli tunnel in Shimla around 6.05 am.

The injured were rushed to IGMC and are taking treatment. Incessant heavy rain continues in Shimla since late Tuesday night

Rampur: The Ferozepur-Shipki La National Highway-5 has been blocked for traffic at Jhakri in Rampur Bushar tehsil here on Wednesday, a National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) official said.


The highway has been blocked since 2 am as the flow of water increased in Broni nullah during heavy rains which also brought the debris on to the road, NHAI executive engineer KL Suman said.

Efforts are on to clear the highway for traffic by removing the debris as soon as possible, he added.

In another incident, a flash flood occurred at Malana Project II in Manikaran valley of Kullu district, in which a building of project was damaged. Around 30 employees stuck in the building have been rescued safely out of the building. A few vehicles were also damaged due to flash flood.


The road leading to Malana village has damaged due to flash flood in the area.
