Pathankot : The border districts of Pathankot and Gurdaspur were put on a high alert after two motorcycle-borne men lobbed a low-intensity hand grenade towards an army camp in Pathankot on Sunday night.
Police officials, after a preliminary inquiry, termed the incident as a terror attack.
No casualties were reporte.
By Monday morning, security in Pathankot was increased. The ammunition dump at Mamun Cantt was also secured.
SSP Surendra Lamba with a team of police officials reached the site after which orders were given to set up a dozen check posts in the district.
The attack occurred barely 500 yards from the outer wall of the high-security Air Force station.
On January 2, 2016, four Jaish-e-Mohammad militants had laid siege to the air base. A 48-hour fierce gun battle had followed in which all terrorists were killed.
