The General’s visit was aimed at checking logistics and operational readiness in Ladakh where winter had set in and the high plateau was already experiencing sub-zero night temperature. Speaking at the annual session of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry last Thursday, the Army Chief had said, “We are well prepared to meet any misadventure (at the LAC), something we have demonstrated in the past too.” He had said such kinds of incidents at the Line of Actual Control would continue to occur till a long-term solution in the form of a boundary agreement was reached.

General Naravane also attended the unveiling of the “Khadi national flag” that was installed in Leh on the occasion of the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur inaugurated the flag, stated to be the largest such national flag in the world with a 225 feet length and 150 feet width.
