Farmers' Protest Toolkit case:  Bombay High Court hears anticipatory transit bail plea by Nikita Jacob

New Delhi : In a setback to the Delhi police, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted a three-week interim transit bail to alleged toolkit case conspirator Nikita Jacob granting her temporary protection from arrest.

Jacob will now have to move appropriate courts in Delhi — either the Delhi High Court or the sessions court — to seek anticipatory bail. These hearings would be important as they will look into the merits of the case, something the Bombay HC did not address.

Jacob’s lawyers argued that she had cooperated in the investigations and would continue to do so.

The Bombay HC took note of this argument while granting interim transit bail to Jacob whom the Delhi cops described as a “committed operator in an international anti-India information warfare.”

Jacob’s lawyer Samyukta De said she would now move for anticipatory bail.

The cops had secured non-bailable warrants against Jacob for her alleged role in creating a toolkit which was later shared with global climate activist Greta Thunberg who shared the same on Twitter and then deleted it.

Delhi police say the toolkit was prepared in collaboration with Khalistan sympathisers based in Canada.

The probe is on.

Relief to Jacob comes after ten-day relief to another accused in the case Shantanu Muluk.

Both Jacob and Muluk are working for a UK based NGO Extinction Foundation.
