NEW DELHI : Indian Meteorological Department has said that the Cyclone Nisarga has become a severe cyclonic storm. Coastal Karnataka and the Marathwada regions will be seeing light to moderate rainfall in the next six hours. Cyclone Nisarga has put the BMC on high alert as the state battles the pandemic while facing a severe cyclone. Both the airport and the shipping authorities have taken measures to minimise the impact of the storm. BMC has asked people to not spread disinformation. NDRF Director General SN Pradhan said that 1 lakh people have been evacuated from the cyclone spot so far and 21 teams of the response force have been deployed in Maharashtra.

Hundreds living near Mumbai beaches being evacuated
Police said hundreds of people living near various beach areas in Mumbai are being shifted to safer places in vie of Cyclone Nisarga which has begun its landfall process. Mumbai Police and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are taking all precautionary measures to minimise damage caused by the cyclone, an official said , reports PTI.

Nearly 1 lakh evacuated from cyclone spot, says NDRF Chief
SN Pradhan, the Director General of the National Disaster Response Force said around 43 teams have been deployed, out of which 21 are iin the state of Maharashtra. He aslo mentioned that nearly 1 lakh people have been evacuate from the cyclone spot, reports ANI.

More than 13,000 people evacuated to safer places in Raigad

Cyclone Nisarga’s impact will weaken by midnight, says IMD
Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, the DGM of India Meteorological Department said that wind speed of about 80 to 90 kmph expected over Maharashtra's Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg & Palghar. Over Gujarat's Navsari & Valsad wind speed of about 60-80 kmph is expected. By midnight it will weaken & by tomorrow morning it will become depression, reports ANI.

Scientists said Cyclone Nisarga has intensified with wind speed of 100 to 110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has refined its landfall forecast, now likely just south of Alibag between 1 pm and 4 pm,
