Maharashtra Aurangabad train accident: Sixteen migrant workers were mowed down by a goods train in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra on Friday morning. While 14 of them died on the spot, two succumbed to injuries. The incident took place between Badnapur and Karmad stations in Nanded Division. According to reports, the workers were walking to Bhusawal from Jalna to board a Shramik Special train to return to Madhya Pradesh. They were sleeping on the railway line when the mishap occurred. Meanwhile, both the Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh governments have announced a financial aid of Rs 5 lakh for the each to their families. Also, an independent inquiry has been ordered by the Ministry of Railways into the incident. The inquiry will be done by Ram Kripal, Commissioner of Railway Safety, South Central circle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the demise of people and assured all possible help to the affected people. He said that Railways Minister Piyush Goyal is closely monitoring the situation.
