The Eid Ka Chand was expected to arrive on May 23 in India but it did not. So it confirms that people will be able to celebrate Eid on Monday. And the Eid Ka Chand will arrive tomorrow. The crescent Moon may appear any moment after 7.00 PM on Sunday.  

Eid al-Fitr, popularly known as Eid marks the end of the sacred fasting month of Ramzan when people fast from dawn to dusk, recite the Holy Quran and spend their day offering their prayers to Allah. 

With this festival, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar, Shawwal begins. 

Eid festivities are all about get-togethers, gatherings, feasts and celebrations. From preparing Sheer Korma or Sevvaiyan to Biryani and a variety of other food preparations, Eid symbolises oneness, happiness and auspiciousness.

Women apply Heena on their palms and get dressed in their best attire while the men go for a kurta/pyjama or a pathani and shalwar.


On the day of Eid, they take part in philanthropic activities as the festival encourages them to give Zakat-ul-Fitr as a token of help. And besides this, prayers (Salat al-Eid) also form an integral part of the Eid festivities.

Nonetheless, the Eid of 2020 shall not witness huge gatherings owing to the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Therefore, people will have to exercise caution and take preventive measures to keep the disease at bay. Moreover, since social distancing is the need of the hour, people must celebrate Eid in the cosy comforts and safe enclosures of their homes. 

Nonetheless, one can involve their extended family members in the festivities by using live streaming and video call services provided by various mobile applications. And by doing so, that can connect with all those staying in other cities or localities. Thus, people can keep the spirit of the festival intact by getting in touch with their loved ones with the help of technology
