No Shortage Of Medicines, Medical Supplies: Govt

The government on Friday asserted that there is no shortage of medicines in the country and it is taking steps to ensure all medical supplies are in place to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

The government is also paying full attention to the manufacturing and distribution of essential drugs as well as hospital devices, Union minister D V Sadanada Gowda tweeted on Friday.

As many as 62 lifeline Udan flights transported over 15.4 tons of essential medical supplies in last five days, he added.

The government is also paying full attention to the manufacturing activities of essential items like pharmaceuticals and hospital devices.

Tamil Nadu on Friday reported 102 positive coronavirus cases, taking the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state to 411. A total of 411 persons have tested positive for the dreaded virus in the state so far. Samples of 3,584 persons have been tested, of which 2,789 returned negative.

A bulk of those who have tested positive for the virus are those who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat religious congregation held in Delhi's Nizamuddin area last month.
