NEW DELHI : (ABP) Coronavirus In India LIVE Updates : With 1,553 more Covid-19 cases, India's total number of coronavirus cases has reached 17,265, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday while the count of those dead due to Covid-19 reached 543 on Monday. Several states have decided to ease lockdown restrictions in non-hotspot zones from today as per the guidelines of the Centre, however, Delhi, Telangana and Punjab have decided against relaxations.

1,553 more COVID-19 cases in India

With 1,553 more COVID-19 cases, India's total number of coronavirus cases has reached 17,265, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday. Out of the total cases, 14,175 cases are active, while 2,547 people have been cured/discharged/migrated and 543 deaths have been reported, as per the ministry. As many as 36 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.

Death In India Rises to 543; Total Cases Surge Past 17K

The total number of Coronavirus positive patients in India climbed past 17000 to reach the figure of 17265, while the count of those dead reached 543 on Sunday, as per the information made available by Health ministry on its website. The total number of those who have been cured stood at 2546.

Government of India warns Kerala against dilution of guidelines by MHA.

Government of Kerala has circulated revised guidelines for lockdown measures. In its order,Kerala Govt has allowed opening of activities which are prohibited in the 15th April MHA order, ANI reported quoting Sources

Such additional activities allowed by Kerala Govt, includes opening of local workshops; Barber shops; restaurants; book stores; MSMEs in municipal limits; bus travel in the cities/ towns for shorter distance etc.

This amounts to dilution of guidelines issued by MHA and violation of MHA order dated 15th April issued under the Disaster Management Act 2005, sources said.

Department of Health & Family Welfare, West Bengal, in a series of tweets on 19th April, alleged defective test kits supplied by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) as the reason for testing delays.

Delhi, Punjab and Telangana governments on Sunday decided to not allow relaxation in the lockdown in the entire state, even as non-hotspot areas in several states will be easing the lockdown norms from today onwards as per Centre’s guidelines.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday announced that the ongoing lockdown in the state will continue till May 7 without any relaxations. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the Delhi government will not relax the lockdown for at least a week as the coronavirus spread appears to have gained pace. The Punjab government on Sunday ruled out any relaxation in the curfew till May 3 barring the wheat procurement. The move came after Chief Minister Amarinder Singh reviewed the current situation arising out of the coronavirus outbreak with senior officers from the administration and police department.

Lockdown Relaxation : Mumbai’s BMC to allow certain public works from today

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a fresh set of directives as per which it will allow from Monday certain public works during the lockdown, including filling of potholes on roads and laying of water supply lines.

In the directives issued on Sunday, the civic body said that arrangements will be made in each ward office to issue passes for movement of staff and contractual labour for operation of railways, airport, ships and land ports, among other things, from Monday.

It, however, also made it clear that no one will be allowed to move in and out of the COVID-19 containment zones declared within the city.

With 139 New COVID-19 Cases, Gujarat State Tally Reaches 1,743

Coronavirus in Gujarat Update - Gujarat on Sunday reported 139 new COVID-19 positive cases and five deaths. The total number of positive coronavirus cases in Gujarat climbed to 1,743 while the death toll mounted to 63.

Coronavirus In Uttar Pradesh's Noida Update-

Gautam Buddh Nagar: Two more positive cases of coronavirus were reported in Noida on Sunday, taking the total number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar to 97.

As many as 38 of the total 97 patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals.

Coronavirus: Gujarat's Ahmedabad has emerged as the worst-hit state due to the deadly COVID-19 infection. News agency PTI reported that at least 24 people admitted in a state-run hospital in Maharashtra's Palghar district for suspected coronavirus infection escaped from the facility over the last two days.

Andhra Pradesh government has claimed that its doctors had set a record by conducting 5,508 COVID-19 tests a day, taking the second place among states conducting the maximum number of tests per million.

A man who had recovered from coronavirus was again found suffering from the infection in Himachal Pradesh, officials said.

The man, a Tablighi Jamaat member, tested positive for the infection at Tanda's Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC) in Kangra on Saturday, within a week of his two reports coming out negative, they said.

42 people arrested in Noida for defying lockdown: Police

Forty-two people were arrested while 261 vehicle owners penalised across Noida and Greater Noida on Sunday for allegedly defying restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 lockdown, police told PTI.

'Nine FIRs were registered on Sunday for lockdown violations and 42 people arrested. A total of 659 vehicles were checked across 200 barrier points in the district and challans issued to 261 of them, while five others were impounded,' the police said in a statement.

Coronavirus In India Update-

The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 519 and the number of cases climbed to 16,116 in the country on Sunday, registering an increase of 31 deaths and 1,324 cases since Saturday evening, according to the Union health ministry.

The number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 13,295 while 2,301 people have been cured and discharged, and one patient has migrated, the ministry said. The total number of cases includes 77 foreign nationals.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that there will be no immediate relaxation in any of the lockdown rules in Delhi as the number of coronavirus cases continue to rise in the national capital. We have decided to not relax lockdown restrictions in Delhi 'as of now'; will assess the situation again after one week, he said.Hours later, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray announced that 'some' financial activities will be started fom Monday in the state to avoid a situation of financial crisis post Covid-19. 

There shall be no movement of labour outside the state/UT from where they are currently located, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday said as it issued a Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for stranded labourers.

Earlier in the day, Ministry of Home Affairs said that supply of non-essential goods by E-Commerce companies to remain prohibited during lockdown period. The nation entered the 26th day of the nationwide lockdown imposed to counter the transmission of Covid-19 pandemic. The total number of COVID 19 cases in India crossed the 15000 mark with over 500 deaths reported. The state of Maharashtra continued to be the worst affected. Maharashtra corona cases jumped to 3651 on Sunday. Delhi, Mumbai and Indore continue to be the major hotbeds as far as major cities in the nation are concerned.


With respect to Coronavirus update from an economy standpoint, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a slew of measures including  slashing the reverse repo rate by 25 basis points from four per cent to 3.75 per cent with an aim to to inject liquidity in financial markets and provide fiscal stimulus to the economy amid the slowdown caused by the  COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent countrywide lockdown. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said the liquidity injection has been 3.2 per cent of GDP since February 6 to March 27.

The Union Health Ministry on Friday giving out its latest update on the Coronavirus pandemic said that before implementation of the nationwide lockdown, COVID 19 cases in the country were doubling in 3 days but over last 7 days, data shows that it had declined to 6.2 days now and in 19 states and Union Territories (UTs), Covid-19 doubling rate is less than the country's average. 

At least 21 serving Indian Navy personnel have tested positive for Coronavirus COVID 19, all within the naval premises at Mumbai, officials said here in Saturday. These include around 20 sailors of INS Angre, a shore establishment at Mumbai, which is the sword arm, a key establishment of the Western Naval Command. Most of these cases are asymptomatic and primary cases traced to a single sailor who had tested positive on April 7.
